Her back still turned to Dawn as she looked out the window, the same window that Tara had stood before months ago, Willow could feel tears trickling down her cheeks. Not knowing what else to say, she shook her head.
“I"m ok…” She said, knowing that the girl would know right away that she was lying to herself and to her. She had stopped being alright the minute Tara had stopped breathing. And from what she felt, and could see, there was never going to be another time where she would be “alright”.
“No, Willow, you’re not." Stepping further in the room, Dawn moved to stand beside her friend. "I’m not either. I– I saw her lying there, you know. I sat there for hours…” Trailing off, she tried to wipe away the tears threatening to spill over before they got in the way of making her point. “She was my best friend too, and now she’s gone. And it’s not okay.”
