“Weelllll, no, not really. We’ve just stopped in for a visit. We’re actually meant to be heading to a forest just outside Sunnydale, because there’s some demon cult that’s going to try to raise a zombie dragon tonight. But there’s no point in heading over there right now, because it’s only one o’clock in the afternoon and the cult has to wait ‘till three o’clock in the morning to do the ritual. None of ‘em are going to be there right now, it’s much too early.”
It was Fred’s turn to look sheepish now.
“Everyone is out doing different things –well, except for Angel, I think he’s in the basement, hiding from the sunlight- but basically everyone else is out doing stuff. I’ve never been to Sunnydale, so I don’t know what to do with myself. What do you guys do around here? Any good shopping malls nearby? Shopping’s fun.”
“Oh.” Well, that made a lot more sense than the entire Los Angeles team coming just for her sister’s help, anyway. Though, honestly, Dawn hadn’t really taken the time to think the logistics of this entire scenario over.
She was was kind of just stuck on the idea of a zombie dragon instead.
“A zombie dragon? Really? That sounds pretty cool. Buffy never fights anything as cool as a zombie dragon– - not that she’d let me see it, even if she did.” she muttered under her breath. She didn’t want her new acquaintance to hear her complaints, but at the same time, Dawn couldn’t help but gripe over the fact that her sister still treated her like a little kid at whatever chance she got.
However, barely even a moment later, she instantly perked back up at the mention of shopping, and all thoughts about the unfairness of being the baby of her family were promptly forgotten. “Yeah, there’s lots of places to go! Though I’ve probably been banned from some of them, but… ” she trailed off with a shrug, her sheepish smile returning for a fleeting moment before she continued. “I’m kinda surprised that Cordelia didn’t take you to anyplace yet, though– - she was, like, Queen Bee around here when she went to high school with my sister. She probably still knows the malls around here even better than I do!”
